“Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care.” ~Buddha
Whether you are seeking massage for general relaxation, or to address a specific complaint or condition, Registered Massage Therapy can be a useful tool in the treatment of both body and mind.
Massage can help to relax tight muscle tissue, which may lead to decreased nerve compression, increased joint space and range of motion, as well as reduced pain and improved overall function. It is also highly effective in improving circulation and vascular health – helping to nourish cells and improve waste elimination.
Massage Therapy is also thought to induce a relaxation response, which helps lower the heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure; boosts the immune system; and generally decreases the physical effects of stress.
No matter your reason for seeking out Massage Therapy, my main goal as your therapist is to provide a customized treatment to aid in your overall health and well-being.
*Please refer to some of the common conditions and pathologies often treated by Registered Massage Therapy as set out by the RMTBC www.rmtbc.ca/patients/condition-types.
2013 Graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT)
I am a member, in good standing, with the Registered Massage Therapy Association of British Columbia (RMTBC) and the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC).
Upon graduation at WCCMT I was awarded first place for the RMTBC Research Case Study Award on my research based on the effectiveness of myofascial release for upper body dysfunction and pain post-mastectomy.
In 2016 I operated my own practice in New Westminster, BC next to a wonderful Chiropractor and worked part time as a teacher’s assistant in General Orthopedics at WCCMT. I now operate a lake view home based business in beautiful Pinantan Lake, BC.
My mission as a Registered Massage Therapist is to treat every individual according to his or her specific needs. I have experience in treating a variety of conditions including chronic/acute pain, loss of range of motion, headaches, pre/postnatal, postural dysfunction, degenerative/arthritic/TMJ disorders, sprains/strains, tendinitis/bursitis, Parkinsons, spinal cord/nerve related injuries and motor vehicle associated injuries.
My overall goal is to customize each session by integrating various modalities of massage such as superficial to deep tissue, myofascial/scar tissue release, musculotendinous attachment release, joint mobilization, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, hot/cold stone therapy and active and passive stretching.
As a massage practitioner, I am committed to my personal growth and continuing education. In order to help individuals on their path to personal wellness, I aim to provide treatments of the highest quality, ensuring a professional and nurturing environment.
Most extended health insurance plans cover Registered Massage Therapy. You may want to check with your individual health insurance provider for details on your coverage as some providers do require a doctor’s note. For RCMP officers Blue Cross will cover those who are eligible - a doctor’s note is required.
Yes, I can bill directly to most major extended health care companies
As of June 1st, 2019, I will no longer be treating patients under ICBC claims from my home address, Thank you.
